How do you pronounce the word ______ in Creole?

Of course we love to give you a custom voice recording for any phrase, simply ask anything. Here is how you might ask that question if you are with a Haitian person.

How do you pronounce the word – mountain?

koman ou pwononse mo – mòn

https://haitiancreole.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Mo-mòn.mp3

This word is often tricky because the accented ò is difficult for many English speakers. The main clue is the heavy nasal on the following N. Listen to the audio recording above and practice to get it right.

Don’t miss our recording of the famous Behind mountains proverb in Creole. It uses this word too.

We’ ve love to make blog post with a list of “tricky” words that sound similar to English speakers. Leave a comment below if that is something that would help you in learning Haitian Creole.

Hello, how do you say “breathe” in Haitian Creole? I know it is the word “respire” I just want to make sure I pronounce it right. Looking to get “respire lavi” tattooed, as Haiti is very dear to my heart, but when I tell people what it says I wake to make sure I’m saying it correctly! Thank you!

After you get beat, only then do you could the cuts.

This is a proverb that means, you only think about the consequence (of a bad decision) after you have suffered them.
