Another reader questions, don’t forget you can ask us anything. How do you say “I want to know” in Haitian Creole?
Mwen ta renmen konnen
I would like to know
Mwen bezwen konnen
I need to known
We hope this audio recording will help you improve your creole pronunciation. Both of the phrases above will work. The first one is more polite because it used the conditional “ta” to indicate a preference. The second phrase is more forceful, almost a demand, that you need to know.
Of course this all depends on context. When speaking with friends it doesn’t matter too much. In public it would be better to use the first “Mwen ta renmen konnen – I would like to know.”
One other option we didn’t include, “Mwen vle konnen” which is the simple I want to know, but we’d suggest you start with the recorded versions above.
