Madichon: Bad things to wish on someone (curses) in Creole

These Haitian Creole phrases are common ways a person might express a negative wish for someone they don’t like. Since these are slang, we gave a more dynamic translation to carry the idea into English.

Koman ou ka bay moun swè oubyen madichon:
Bad things you can wish on a person:

I hope you die soon — Wap mouri kanmèm
I hope a car hits you — Yon machinn kap frape ou
I hope you get shot in the street — Wap pran yon bal nan lari
Only mosquitoes will come to your funeral — Lè ou mouri se mouche kap vini nan antèman w
I hope you die bad — Wap mouri mal
All the good in your life will turn bad — Tout sa ki nan lavi ki bèl ap vini mal
You will go to jail — Ou poko wè pou prizon wap travay
Kidnappers will take you — Kinnapè pral pran ou
Only the flies will care when you die —
Lè ou mouri se mouch kap vinn bay nouvèl

Too explicit: Just putting it here so you can learn the words

I hope rapists take you and your children — Kadejakè wap kenbe w nan yon timoun
