These two similar sounding words leaves many Creole learners tongue twisted. So to set things right, Estherline gives a quick language lesson:
Peye – peyi: Yo gen menm son men yo pa siyifikasyon menm bagay.
Payment – Nation: They have a similar sound but they don’t mean the same thing.
Peye : se yon moun dwe yon kob li remet li
Payment: when one person who owes money and they give it
Peyi : se plas ou Fe ou fet oubyen oubyen ne
Nation: is the place you were made or born
